Why an embroidered souvenir lasts
Embroidery is stitched into the fabric: there's no print to crack or peel. With normal care it looks the same after years of washing — which makes it a souvenir you'll actually wear, not one that ends up on a shelf.
What to embroider
- One of the island's flowers — bird of paradise, hibiscus, anthurium, or the Pride of Madeira, which grows wild on Madeira and nowhere else.
- The date of your trip — «Madeira 2026».
- A place — Funchal, Porto Santo, the levada you walked, the peak you climbed.
- A name — yours, or the person you're bringing it home for.
- Your pet's portrait, from a photo (see how).

Is it traditional Madeira embroidery?
No — and it's worth knowing the difference. Traditional Madeira embroidery (Bordado Madeira) is fine hand embroidery on linen and other delicate fabrics, certified by IVBAM with a seal of guarantee; you'll find it in Funchal's embroidery houses. Ours is modern machine embroidery on everyday clothes, made in our Funchal studio with designs inspired by the island.
